Up Up and Away.

I started growing some seeds indoors last Sunday. I was surprised when I saw a green sprout had already came up through the soil to see its first day of sunlight. That was fast it only took 5 days for that seed to germinate and pop out through the soil. It was suppose to take longer than five days however I have a Green Thumb. I cant wait for planting time.

Field Trip

The first field trip of the year happened Thursday. I and 40 other members of my high schools FFA traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina to visit a college named A&T. We were told to be at school by 5:00am. No I'm not joking. I woke up at 3:45am that mourning and was out the door by 4:10am. Some people would not have went on a field trip if they had to wake up this early. It was cold and there was no heat on the bus. Luckily I brought my favorite blanket that absorbs body heat. I was never cold especially with my cute red headed friend Elizabeth asleep laying on my shoulder. Did I mention I landed my but in the worst seat on the bus. My seat had the heater under it, the heater that didn't work. So I had hardly any leg room. I was never bored though because I downloaded two movies onto my I-Touch for Elizabeth and I to watch. Except one (Couples Retreat) was really bad. We stopped watching it half way through. The college was great. It was a nice size and the people were very kind. The atmosphere at the college was like being at home with your family. The food was good to, LOL. The ride home was nice. Except the heater decided to kick on. Because I was sitting right above it I felt as if I was over a campfire. Elizabeth was asleep again, I didn't wont to wake her to switch spots. Luckily the bus hit a big bump and she woke up. We switch spots and everything seemed to be going well. Until a group of boys at the back of the bus became gassy and began passing gas. Time to roll the windows down. Finally we were almost home. The bus however was not going to let us off without a blood sacrifice though. A freshman (who I saw with a knife earlier) was evidently bleeding. I turn to look and almost lost all the food in my stomach. There was a 2 inch piece of skin barley hanging off his thumb and it was gushing blood. UGHHH. I asked him how did he cut his finger? Were you playing with your knife? He said, "No I was trying to put a whole in the top of my bottle." I asked, "With you're KNIFE?" "Yes", he said. My oh my, didn't his Mom ever tell him not to play with knives. So that was our first field trip of the year. It had its moment's. I know I had mine. At least I was warm, thanks Elizabeth.

Favorite Flowers and Plants

Its almost that time of year. Spring. One of my favorite seasons. I am already organizing my flower seeds and preparing for the upcoming month. I went to Lowe's today and went a little crazy over the variety of seeds. I probably spent a little too much to. However I could not resist buying the most spectacular seeds. Some of which are my favorite. Purple Cone Flower - This is a beautiful purple flower with a vibrate orange and brown cone in the center, the bees also love it. Bachelors Buttons - These flowers look just like little buttons. They are mostly blue but also come in white and red. Mexican Hat - This is the coolest flower ever. The flower looks just like a mini Sombrero. Gaillardia - This is a new one I have never seen before. To me the flowers look like fireworks of red and white. Last of the seeds bought today is Red King Zinnia. This is the big daddy of the Zinnia family. The blooms on this Zinnia are huge and wonderfully red. These are some of the new comers to my garden this year. They are going to look great in the raised flower bed I'm planning on building this spring. So what are you doing to prepare for Spring?

Sunny day.

The weather is going to be warm this week end so that means I can do some gardening. I have a bed of bulbs and in them I have some Bearded Irises. They are a beautiful Purple and Yellow color. They are called Bearded Iris because of the yellow or orange fluff that comes out of the center of the flower. The beard and the petals is what attracts the bees so the bees can pollinate the flowers. The Iris is one of many flowers were the leaves stay green all year even in the dead of winter. However after a long period of time you have to separate the bulbs so they are not so close together. If they are to close only few flowers will bloom. The bulbs also hatch little baby bulbs so you never have to buy more. That's a big plus.

Home at last. Home at last.

All last week my mom was telling me about her going out of town to work soon. She hadn't said exactly when. Last Sunday we were watching movies and she said " I have to get my things packed. " I asked why and she said " I told you I leave tomorrow. " She had not told me exactly when she was leaving so I was surprised. The first thought that ran through my mind was " I'm going to starve this week. " All metaphorical. My mom's the big cooker in the family and she can cook goooood. I sometimes think that mom might some how be related to Paula Deen. When moms gone I do the cooking and it never tastes like Moms cooking. Also when Moms gone I'm left at home by myself untill Dad comes home around six o' clock. Being home alone isnt so bad, the bad part is that there are odd things that happen when I'm home alone. Odd as in seeing things move and hearing things that I can not explain. What I hate most is when im in the den watching TV and Roxie sees something in the corner of the room when there is nothing there. Ill watch her to see if I see what she sees but theres never anything there. I think dogs can seee things humans cant. Any way moving on. Mom come home today Yaaaaa. She came bearing gifts. Pecan logs, Yankee Candels, and food from the Olive Garden ( which is now my favorite place to eat ever!!!). Its good to have mom home. When I come home from school now my bed will be made and my room will be clean as if by magic. Also she usally likes to fix a grand supper the next day, that I'm looking forward to.

Art on My Pants

I really enjoy my art class. I sit with my friend Ethan and a couple of other classmates which are now my friends too. We laugh so much in class my abs are sore by the time the bell rings. However we still do all our work. Right now we are doing a pastel of some art work bye a famous artist called Gergia O' Keeffe. At first I thought the artist was a man but I found out its a woman. I love all her art because most of her work is on plants and flowers, which I love to grow. I searched through almost all her work until I found the perfect work of art by her. Its a breath taking red, orange, and yellow flower that I believe is a Cana Lilly. The only bad part of this is that pastel is messy. It gets every where and spreads like wildfire. I have learned not to scratch my face while using pastel. Some how embarrassment follows me. At the end of class my friend Jalicia said I had something on the back of my jeans. I look to see what it is and found that there was red Pastel all over the lower part of my jeans. Yaaa!! Just what I need to finish off my look. She went to get a wet paper towel and actually helped me wipe it off my jeans. Its good to have friends. However the red had somehow turned to pink. Whoop Whoop. Even better that did not go with anything I was wearing ( which was a lot of light blue ). So this is embarrassment number two for this week. Cant wait to see what happens tomorrow.

Rainy Day.

Well Valentine's Day is over and now theres nothing in the air but RAIN. Our area actually had a snow weekend about three inches of the fluffy white stuff. It was the perfect snow. Just right for some southern snow cream; which my mother makes the best of. Snowmen and snow angels were every where in almost every yard. However it didn't last long. The sun came out and POOF... bye bye snow hello water and rain. Around fourth period today at school it started to rain and it hasn't stopped yet. So it looks like this week of school might be a little wet and slippery. Ill have to remember the slippery part. I embarrassed myself my softmore year bye walking in from outside and whooopp... slipped and fell right on my butt in front of about 30 classmates. Awkward moments they happen oohh to often.

Watch out for Cupid's arrow.

Its that time of year again. That's right Valentines Day! Love. Love is one of few things that you cant see but you know it's there. It has been around for thousands of years. Needless to say Cupid is very busy this time of year. Don't worry if you haven't been shot with the famous arrow I'm sure hes on his way. People say there is someone out there for everyone. Do you believe this? Id like to believe that some people are meant for each other and that there is such a thing as love at first sight. So are you in love? Did you do something special for that special someone today? Or did you do what I did and lay in bed watching movies like "The Time Travelers Wife." Love is not something you can touch. However it is tangible. It grows, it weakens, and it can reproduce. You can share it with many or council it from all. You can push it to the side or you can take it head on. One thing for sure, Love is not going anywhere. You chose what you want to do with it.

Digging in my yard.

Have you ever dug around in the dirt in your yard? Were you planting plants or making mud pies? Did you ever find anything other than dirt and worms? Well when I was younger I liked to dig in my yard and I would find many pieces of glass and nails. Once I found an old shoe with small nails in the sole. So when I grew older I began to dig more and more and within the past 5 years I have unearthed hundreds of artifacts. My favorite thing I have dug up is a Poison Bottle. I did some research and found out the poison bottle is from 1890 through 1900. It was made by the Sharp and Dhome Company in Maryland. I love this because it has such an amazing history and to think I dug it up in my backyard. Other things I have found are vintage marbles. The marbles are all kind of colors, my favorite is a orange, red, and white one. I found 4 railroad spikes and about 1,000 nails from different ages and different sizes. Lots of pottery shards have been found including plates and some type of gravy purer with a strawberry pattern. The strangest things I have found include bones (mostly steak or cow ), shoes, a spoon, a pair of scissors, and what might be a really old toothbrush. Just goes to show what you can find if you do a little bit of digging.

I just came to get my thing!!!

My third period class is Art Three. My teacher is Mrs. Lowery. She is the best art teacher I have ever had, not to mention she is a talented artist herself. I have no problem doing work in the class because I love art. However there are some students in the class that think their going to die if they do something. That's not all. Students are very disrespectful to Mrs. Lowery and I hate that. Why would someone want to disrespect a sweet elderly art teacher who is as nice as anyone could ever be? Soo moving on. Today my friends and I were working on our still life of some flowers. I heard our teacher ask "Can I help you?" I look up and see a male student from another class talking to a male student from my class. He replied "I just came to get something." Mrs. Lowery said " You should not be in here especially without a note." She begins to walk over to the two boys. While she was on her way the boy from our class started to pull something out of his pocket. It appeared to be an Itouch in a metal protective case, I recognized it because I have an Itouch myself. Mrs. Lowery was now in front of the boys trying to get the stranger boy out of our class room. The Itouch was out of our classmates pocket and he was in the process of giving it to the stranger student. That wasn't going to happen, Mrs. Lowery had her hands on the Itouch now and they were going to give it to her because she was not letting go. "Noo you cant take this." One of the boys said. Her reply was " Yes I can." Now the stranger student was heading for the door and Mrs. Lowery was right behind him. "What are you doing in here?" she asked again. All of the sudden the boy yells "I CAME TO GET MY THING!!!" BAMM!! I heard a bad sound it was the sound of skin hitting skin. He didn't hit Mrs. Lowery did he. Am I going to have to step in, is she ok? Luckily he had only punched his other hand and not the teacher. I was scared, we all were. This boy was acting crazy. Both the teacher and the stranger student were in the hallway now and the boy from our class was going into the hallway to saying "No! I'm not going to put up with this. This aint right yo!" I thought they might jump the teacher, they acted like they might. Other teaches had came out of their class rooms to help Mrs. Lowery now. Both students were written up and hopefully the stranger student will be suspended. That was the drama that happened today. Hopefully it will not continue tomorrow.

Roots above ground. Right?

OK so I figured my blog is about Confessions of a High School Senior soo its about time to confess somethings. My fourth period class is Horticulture one because of course I love Horticulture. My teacher is Little Roberts we call him this because his father is Big Roberts and they both work at the High School. Well there is a kid in my class who has an abnormally large cranium. I mean his head is huge even Little Roberts jokes on him about it. Not only does he have a big cranium but he has a big ego too. He thinks hes all that because his girlfriend is in the Horticulture class too. He is like a miniature jock him being an tenth or eleventh grader. Today in class we transplanted seed sprouts into small containers. One group of students mixed the soil, one group planted the sprouts, and one group took the pots to the greenhouse. Well mister big had thinks he is being all cool, he plants the sprout within seconds and slides the pots across the table super fast to make a big impression while shouting " I'm the potting master." I am going behind the planters to make sure the sprouts are potted the right way. Well Mister Big Head seems to be doing something majorly wrong. Ummm are the roots suppose to go in the ground? They don't need soil to grow right? That's right in the mist of trying to impress his girlfriend, and the other really cute girls in the class, he planted the sprouts with the roots above ground. Well looks like he has a big head but no brain. Sooo while I'm fixing the problem by repotting the sprouts Little Roberts walks bye and says, "James you have done this before haven't you." "No actually this is my first time." I said. "Really your doing a great job that's amazing." he replied. Guss who the girls were staring at now. That's right me. After that the cute blond next to me was laughing with me and giving me the googly eyes. That's right Mister Big Head you put the roots above ground and James puts them below ground with the help of the ladies. Not to metion if I had not planted the roots back in the ground the plants would not have grown and we would not have been able to sell the plants out of our green house at the High School. So I saved the School at least 20 bucks today.

Bye Bye Kitty Cat.

My dog Roxie is a full blooded AKC registered Boxer. She has a severe under bite and is the runt of the litter. Many people say she looks like a bull dog, but that's because after many years of breeding Boxer's begin to shrink. She's still my dawg. One thing for sure she's smart. She knows a couple of words like food, hot dog, and bacon. But she also knows the word CAT. If anyone says that around her she immediately lunges toward the backdoor (which has a large panel of glass) and begins barking and looking for the furry thing she knows as CAT. Well this weekend I hear what sounds like person being beaten to death. I run to the back yard and what do I see, Roxie has captured her a cat. She was on top of it like white on rice and it wasn't going anywhere. But then the cat retracted its claws and grasped onto Roxie's nose. Roxie gave a loud weep and tossed her head in the air and with it the cat. 3 feet, 5 feet, 7 feet. I have never seen a flying cat until now. It didn't last long. The cat was falling back to earth and Roxie was ready she was waiting in a perfect "I'm going to get you" stance. She had her again. I was screaming " Let it go, Roxie let goooo!!!" Ya right like that was going to happen. Luckily the cat found away to get away... with some of Roxie's nose. We knew the cat would not make it after Roxie had it. So we set out on a cat search but turned up empty handed. The sun went down and we came in. Hours later it was time to let Roxie out to use the grass. I waited a couple of minutes then went back to let her in. Ahhh!!!! What do I see. Roxie with a lifeless cat body in her mouth; with a look on her face like " Can I bring it in? " Poor cat. I felt bad but I guess all the cats in the neighborhood should know by now that behind that tall wood fence theres a smart brown and white dog that knows all to well the word CAT.

Full of Poo

In animal science class one day we were back at the farm again. This time we were learning how to palpate cows. What!!! You don't know what palpate means. Well its when you put on an extremely over sized glove and stick your hand up a cows butt. Sounds crazy right. The purpose of palpation is to tell what part of the pregnancy cycle the momma cow is in. Yes I did it. I put on the glove and reached into the rectum of the cow. Poor cow. My teacher starts asking the questions. " What do you feel, is she pregnant?" All I felt was warm mushy stuff. I replied, " She's not pregnant she's just full of crap." My fellow class mates were telling me I wasn't in deep enough. Listen when you've got half your arm up a cows butt you really do not want to go any deeper. I hear my class mates laughing. "What are yall laughing at?" Just then my leg started feeling really warm. I look down and what do I see? Noooo!!! The cow had just pooped all over my jeans. It was seeping through onto my leg. Gross. So I retrieved my arm from the poo hole of the cow and stumbled my way out into fresh air to examine the damage. Everyone was laughing and pointing. " That's ok yall will get your turns." I replied. I cleaned the poop off with some paper towels but unfortunately my jeans were now blue and green. We all ended up dirty and poopy that day. After a long day of work like that our teacher thought it was only fair to feed our hungry bellies. Where did we go? No where other than the Golden Coral. Oh boy were people staring at us. That didn't matter we were having the time of our life. Together with our muddy boots and poopy jeans.

Hot wire and sun glasses

Have you ever touched a cattle wire? Well they have electricity running through them and from what I have felt and heard its alot. I was in a class at my school called Animal Science: Large Animals. We learned all about cows and had lots of hand on training with them on a local farm. We made many trips to the farm in class and I loved the hands on dirty work. One day we were standing out side of the fence watching the men and some class mates feed the cows. It was very sunny this day and I had a pair of sun glasses on the top of my head. I was the tallest person in the class me being 6'1". No one knew there was a hot wire or cattle wire above all our heads. Well I went to put my sunglasses on. When I pulled them of my head I heard a little humm sound in my head. All of a sudden it felt like someone had hit me with a car or my heart had turned in to a giant drum and some one had just hit it hard. I fell back and the first word out of my mouth was, well its not very nice so ill just say it was another word for what was on the ground all around us and it smelt really bad. Every one was looking at me and my teacher, who was ear tagging a calf, had heard what I yelled and came to check to see what happend. I was shaking and soo embaressed. Lucky for me I didnt fall in the cow pies on the ground. My teacher didnt really care about what I yelled he just wanted to make sure I was ok. I had to act cool because all my lady friends were near me. " James, James are you ok?" Of course I am that didnt hurt Im a man. On the inside I was thinking Crap that hurt im shure glad im not a cow. A couple of hundred volts to the heart nope that dosent hurt at all. Well at least now I know to look up when at the farm and that metal conducts electricity.

My Gardening

Ok I myself am a avid gardener. It is something I enjoy. To think that something so small as a grain of sand can grow into an immaculate and colorful flower. When I traveled to Monticello I took the garden tour. I could spend my life there in that garden smelling the flowers. It was my favorite part of Monticello and I wish I could go back. There was a small flower shop where you could buy seeds or small plants grown there at Monticello. So I bought a couple of seeds one of which was called a Cardoon the other was Cockscomb. Both of which I saw in the garden tour and loved. The Cockscomb seeds were the size of strawberry seeds. The Cordoon seeds were the size of sunflower seeds. I planted the seeds in early spring and within weeks the seeds were sprouting. I made the mistake of planting the Cardoon to close to my house. About a month or to later the Cardoon plant had grown to 5 feet wide and 5 feet tall. I was shocked. When the flowers bloomed they were three inches in diameter with bright purple bristles. There were always at least twenty five bees around it at any one moument. When winter came I dug the plant up to replant it in another area away from the house. I was astounded when I saw the roots had grown and spread out like fingers after a 100 dollar bill. Even now in the dead of winter the Cardoon is green and growing. Its like my little monster plant and I expect it to grow 6 feet tall this year.

This is all so new.

I'm going to take you all on a journey through my high school days. Your going to read all about the drama, scandals, and embarrassing moments of a high school senior. For some of you its going to bring you back in time to your high school days. So hold on and embrace for impact.
