Veggie Garden

Hello it's me again. It has been a while sense my last post. Many things have happened at school and at home. For now I will just tell you about my new veggie garden at home. I like my raised flower bed so much that I decided to build a raised vegetable bed. Some of the things I wanted to plant and grow in my veggie bed were cabbage, carrots, lettuce, tomato, peas, squash, and cucumber. However right now I have only planted Carrots, lettuce, and strawberries. The reason why I did not plant more is because the veggie bed I built was smaller than I had anticipated. The raised flower beds are really easy to build and I recommend it to everyone who loves to garden. I built one veggie bed and filled it with compost and fertilizer within an hour and a half. I know have to build another one because I want more veggies.

Japanese Students

I was told yesterday that our school will be sponsoring two Japanese foreign exchange students for a week. This will be really fun. They wont speak much English though. A boy in my first period will be taking in one of the Japanese boys. The Japanese boy will stay with his family. The Japanese boy will be in my first period class and maybe my fourth period class to. I hope my classmates do not scare him. It will be interesting to hear his language and learn some of his customs. The two boys are part off the FFJ which is the Future Farmers of Japan. I wish I could go to Japan for a week to go to a school there. I'm sure the Japanese boys will be a little scared because they will not stay together or go to the same classes while they are here. I don't know what I would do if I was the only American at a all Japanese school. I plan to buy the boy a gift to welcome him to our class and our school. He arrives next week. I cant wait.

Well it rained so much the owner of the farm called the field trip off. I was upset. However I got to go to Wilmington with my mom. I love Wilmington its my favorite place to go to the beach. If I could I would live there. Or maybe not my heart is set on Florida for my future home.

Back to the Farm

My class goes back to the farm tomorrow. We will be palpating, castrating, and ear tagging. It has rained all day today so it will be funny to see how many people fall in the mud and poop at the farm. I just hope I wont be one of them.

First Time On the Ice

Last weekend I went Ice skating for my first time. I'll admit I was a little nervous. I did think that I would fall within one minute on the ice. However I did not fall the entire time I was there which was around two hours. I was very proud of myself. I will say it is just like rollerblading except you have to stay well balanced. That's the hard part. Oh and watch out for little kids I almost ran over one. The trick is to watch how other people are skating. I saw how they use both feet like rollerblading and they didn't lean forward to much. That's what I did and it works. I cant wait to go back. I'm working myself up to the point where I can do a jump in the air. That should be fun. I hope.

Pansy

This is a very cool flower. The Pansy. They are known for their hardiness. However many people do not know that Pansy flowers are eatable. That's right they really are. Many caterers use the flower on cakes and things. They can also be put in a salad. They might not have a strong taste however they do brighten up a salad by giving it some color. Pansies come in many sizes and colors. They all have a design in the center of the petals that looks like a butterfly. Pansies look great anywhere in your garden.

Rise My Children Rise

I feel like a mother of 15 or more babies. Thankfully my babies don't poop 9 times a day and I only have to fed them 3 times a week. Does that make me a bad mother? If you haven't figured out by now my babies are my seedlings that are emerging. About 4 more weeks and I should be able to transplant them into my new above ground flower bed. A close friend of mine once asked "Why do they call it a Flower Bed? Why cant it be a Flower Couch or a Flower Chair?" I had no answer to his question but I started wondering the same thing.

Coca-Cola Bottles

My sister was visiting friends in the mountains last week when she called me with some exciting news. She was at a flea market and found some old bottles. She knows how much I love Coca-Cola and vintage bottles and thought I would want some. Turns out the bottles were old, they are called money back bottles. You could take them back to the distributor and get a couple of cents back. I love them they are so cool. She picked me up two 61/2 oz bottles, two 10 oz bottles and one large 16 oz bottle that had the cap still on it but no drink inside. She also found a half liter Pepsi money back bottle and two Mountain Dew money back bottles. They mack a great addition to my collection which already included one White Lightinin bottle, one 7-up bottle from the 50's and a 1941 Coka-Cola bottle. What was you're favorite drink as a kid?

The Perfect Pound Cake

Have you ever had a Pound Cake? If not you really are missing out on a crucial piece of life. One of my favorite recipes is The Perfect Pound Cake. It is oh so delicious. The ingredient that makes it so good is a cup of Sprite soft drink. Yes that's right Sprite. It makes the cake so moist. I found the recipe on one of my favorite web sites, The Pioneer Woman. This woman knows how to cook. You can go here to her site for the recipe. http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/01/perfect-pound-cake/

Warning they call it a Pound Cake for a reason. You might put on a couple of pounds after eating it.
